| July Art Journaling Challenge |
Erika (Artful Rising) reminded me about the challenge going on at the Art Journaling ning. Since I wasn't doing anything else (that's a laugh), I decided to participate. And I'm glad I did! This challenge is created by Eveline (Eveline Timeless) and the theme is
control.

Instead of using zentangles, I decided to stamp my new letters into the boxes. You see, I've been thinking about buying some large letter stamps for a while now, and visit the stamping section of the craft store every time I go in. But didn't want to spend the money. So I went out and bought some wooden letters and inked them onto Speedy-Cut foam blocks. I'm up to the letter K, but thought I'd put down my carving tools for a while and start to work on the challenge. First off, making my grid and stamping the paper!
Here's the blocks before any color, except for the olive ink I stamped them in...
First I mixed Modge Podge, green acrylic paint and water. It was a little too runny and washed the stamping ink off my letters. I had unknowingly created a background color with my green paint! On my second try of making the paint mixture, I used a bit of my good bookbinding glue with the acrylic paint.
I didn't like how it came out at first but after it dried the paint took on a 3-dimensional look. And I liked it! I want to thank Eveline for the opportunity to learn something new!

Hey, that's kinda cool! :)
Your letter stamps are looking great. And I love how the book binding glue took on a 3-D look!
Your stamps are awesome! Adversity (ha!) turned into awesomeness!
I love all things typography related so those stamps really appeal to me! What a neat opportunity to learn a new technique.
I like how it turned out too! Great take on the theme!
New techniques are so much fun, aren't they?
That's really cool, Deb! I like your new letters!
I think they look really neat! What a creative way to do them. I have a speedy block and an idea *lol* still on my growing 'to-do' list!
I like the use of the stamps and how the paper turned green. It is fun to use a challenge to try new things and think in different ways.
Very cool! I've been thinking of trying some stamping on fabric. You've inspired me!
