I recently received a notecard in the mail, telling me about an exhibition in Oklahoma City. I cut out the state that was on the cover and put it in my art journal. It's a nice design and all. I see Carl Albert (Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives) on the left and Mickey Mantle with his bat on the right. Two famous Oklahomans. But who are those other two men? Do you know?
I pieced together the card to see if I could find more information. And this is what I saw:
"Learn more about the impact Carl Albert, Michey Mantle, Reba McEntire, Shannon Miller, Willard Stone [and] Sam Walton have made on Oklahoma in the Optimism exhibit at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum."
But where are the two women? They were completely left out of the design! Typical Oklahoma! So I went online and printed some photos to add to my journal page. I feel better now...

You're O.K. girl! =D
Hi, Neighbor! I guess we share Sam Walton from Arkansas! And I didn't know Reba was from Oklahoma!
you go! another great post from you!
Indeed! Another great post!
I love how you cut your card into the shape of the state. How sweet of you to add the women in for your journal post.
Yay for adding the women! That's really a shame they weren't on there in the first place though.
Glad that you, at least, are looking out for the women!
=)
Enjoyed this post!
You Go Girl!
Working in a "man's world" in a factory, I tend to be a bit of a feminist too. I do the same work those men do day in and day out! And they know not to mess with me...LOL :)
Glad you added the girls :)
Haha...good for you Deb! I've always thought it's really sad how ignorant some conservatives are. Ask most liberals why they believe what they do and you'll get a book. Ask a conservative and get because my way is right!
You're so funny. How sad, though, that the organization left out the women especially Reba since, hello, she is one business-savvy gal.

So shameful that the two women were not included in the design.
Seems like O is also for "omitted"... Nice post!
So Oklahoma is conservative? I wouldn't fit in too well because I'm the type of person to jump in and say "Descriminates Against Women!" I think it's born inside me and I just can't help it.
I waonder if creating story pages in a book would help me with some of my issues.~Ames
Hear, hear! In your own way, you remedied the situation. :-)
the woman should have been a part on the design. Shame on Oklahoma
Good for you!
I lived in Oklahoma back in the 80's and was struck by how conservative it was at that time. I loved the hospitality though!
Oh man. It's a shame that so often no-one can hear women roar!
Glad you did!
Thanks for sharing this outstanding post for the letter 'O'.
A+
Wow! left out women! How unfortunate for the men. left with only a partial perspective on what creates vibrancy for a state.
