| I miss you as much as ice cream! |
This week for our AlphabeThursday, we are writing about words that begin with the letter I. The first thing that popped in my head was ice cream. To make it more recognizable for my children's alphabet book, I thought a picture of an ice cream cone would work better.
About a month ago, I purchased some Speedy Cut rubber blocks to make stamps. And I thought it was a great opportunity to make some ice cream stamps. The first one I made was an outline of the cone and ice cream (right), with everything else cut away.
That didn't come out very realistic, so I tried again. And I added lines for the waffle cone, which worked well. It's small, about 1½ inches in size. I like the little saying too - it will work great for a greetings card. I need to improve my circles or find some other method for displaying the stamped paper - like a really LARGE hole punch!
Come and visit Ms. Jenny's blog
and see what other words people chose.

What fun! I love the stamp you made! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
The stamp came out great! Of course, you give me some ice cream (in any form) and I'm as happy as a lark!
I like your stamps. I've been wanting to try Speedy Cut blocks. I hear they are much easier to carve than lino.
I like it, Deb! And I like your imperfect circle, too! Ice Cream has played an important role in my family over the years.
one cute thing: When my daughter first tasted ice cream, she said, "This tastes like love to me."
Your ice cream stamp turned out great! I like the waffle cone. I've not tried Speedy Cut blocks, but I have made some rubber stamps--way in the past.
I hope you had a great birthday yesterday!
I am so glad I saw you over at Miss Jenny's - it's my first visit here and also, (I know I am so far behind the times) first time to be exposed to "Art Journaling" ... I love art and am just now getting back into it so, am so excited to find you! Love ice cream, love your post. Come visit anytime! *new follower*
I like the ice cream cone. That is so great that you are learning to make stamps. It will be fun with your journals.
What a cute stamp!
=)
Deb--you are really finding the artist inside of you, aren't you? This is awesome! I love what you did with the stamp that you made! What an accomplishment!
Love the stamp! and the little card you made with it! Very sweet, indeed!
I love your stamp and you're right about the saying. It would definitely be great for greeting cards. The second stamp is very realistic.
I have 1" and 2" Fiskars circle punches. They're $12-$14 from Michael's...a little pricy, but you can watch for the sales or use one of those 40% off coupons. They have definitely been worth the money.
Hi Deb,
First of all, thanks so much for leaving comments on my blog. That certainly makes blogging extra special! :)
Believe it or not -- I also thought of ice-cream for Alphabe-Thursday. However, I didn't have any interesting photo to go with it, so I settled on illumination. Anyway, I love your ice-cream cone card and the saying. Just perfect!
Are you interested in winning a white cotton T-shirt with a pink heart and the words I ♥ Oktoberfest in size L? Then come over to my blog until Sunday, 22nd January, and leave a comment here.
Have a wonderful 2012,
your blog friend from Munich, Germany,
Birgit
Haha...I'm laughing because I actually miss ice cream big time right now. It's my biggest vice...
Glad you're having fun experimenting with making stamps, how fun!
Great choice for the letter I :) Maybe I didn't think of it,because it's colder, but California is one of the highest in the US for consumption of ice cream - great stamp too!
That's pretty darn cool! No pun intended! :) Love it Deb!
That's really cute! The quote is great and I like the circle the way it is =)
I love the quote too. You ice cream cone looks wonderful.
Super cool! You're making your own rubberstamps now. I'm impressed!
How crafty are you... well obviously I can see how so that's a rhetorical question:-) Great post!
Wow. I think this is another one of my favorites. The waffle cone looks great and I like the saying as well. It would make a sweet card (pun intended):).
Speedy cut rubber blocks?
Ahhhh...I am soooo intriqued.
You are really inspiring me to start painting, etc. again. I think next round of A-T I'm going to make myself do something artsy for each letter.
Thanks for your lovely inspiration!
Hugs and A+
