We went to see the Rock of Cashel, County Tipperary, the day before we returned to Dublin. The Cathedral stands next to a chapel, which was built around 1235. The Cathedral's central tower was added in the 14th century and a "strong" castle (mostly what you see here) was erected on the western end of the Rock in the early 15th Century. Here's an illustration that explains the layout (click all sizes for a large view)

Wow!
I love how you are taking us on a little tour and getting to relive your trip all at the same time :) How great!
How beautiful!
Wow! That's very interesting! I appreciate that you continue to show us photos from your trip.
Oh how fantastic! I've wanted to visit Ireland since childhood, so I am very happy to live vicariously through you now :)
What a gorgeous shot. i would so love to visit Ireland and Scotland someday. That is def on my list of must visits. Thanks for sharing your pics with us!
How cool--color me envious ;)
Beautiful but a little eerie & lonely. Did you go inside? I'd love to travel there one day.
Amazing! I get tired just thinking of building a two foot stone retaining wall. It's incredible how these magnificent places were built before all the conveniences we have today. Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures!
I'd love to go there! I've never been anywhere out of the US besides Canada and Mexico.
Magnificent!!! What a magical place.
Beautiful, I love cemeteries, old ones especially. Ireland...hopefully one day we'll make it there.
Thanks for virtual tour.
