It helped me take the plunge - I got a kit from theBeadwrangler on making a crocheted rope. Should arrive next week - I'll keep everyone informed how it goes.

Please post some updates on this project when you get going on it. I've done some small bags with beaded crochet, but have never tried a rope before.
